Dramatically reduce unwanted and excess hair with a non-invasive course of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment. Suitable for treating hairs on all areas of face and body, IPL hair reduction offers a safe, effective, long-term solution for both men and women.
Rejuvenate Me has a state-of-the-art IPL system, and due to its cooling system, it makes hair removal virtually pain free.
Treatment will require the area to be shaved. A thin layer of protective gel is applied to maximise absorption of the light by the hair follicle. By using gentle pulses of light momentarily to create heat, IPL can disable hair follicles, preventing future growth. The melanin in the hair (which gives it its colour) absorbs the light, which is then converted into heat. This heat is transferred to the growth cells surrounding the root of the hair, disabling them. The successfully treated hair will then fall out 1-4 weeks after treatment. Some clients report a noticeable difference after the first treatment, but usually it’s not until the third or forth treatment that you will see a significant change.
Treatment sensation varies from client to client. Majority of clients say it feels like a flicking of an elastic band on their skin. However, we do immediately freeze the area so any discomfort is momentary and there is no lasting sensation.
Most people are suitable, but IPL does not work on all hair colours or all skin types. Blonde, red, grey or white hairs are not suitable for treatment because they do not contain sufficient melanin to absorb the light. In simple terms the greater the contrast between your hair colour and your skin colour the better the results.
Immediately after treatment you may notice a slight reddening of the skin which may last for up to a few hours (or in very rare cases up to a few days). These are positive indications that the IPL treatment was effective and no cause for concern. In most cases you will see very little difference and can continue your normal daily activities.
There is the possibility of some minor side effects, such as redness, which are discussed in detail during your consultation. Risks are usually specific to you as an individual.
Hair goes through 3 stages in its growth cycle and IPL treatment is only effective when hair is in the growing stage. As only around 30% of hairs at any given time are in this stage, some hairs will still grow. This is why we recommend a minimum course of at least six treatments, depending on the area being treated. After a course of treatments, you may need top-up treatments 1-2 times a year thereafter.
More specific and detailed information is given during consultation.
On your first visit, your therapist will carry out a detailed consultation and assessment before recommending a treatment plan to suit your individual requirements. Your therapist will also demonstrate the equipment and answer any questions. We will also do a patch test to see how your skin reacts. Depending on the results of the patch test, we can usually begin treatments within 24-48 hours.
Yes. One of the side effects of polycystic ovarian syndrome can be enhanced hair growth, for which IPL is a suitable treatment.
